MY TRAVEL SAFETY

A one-day bespoke travel safety course delivered at your house or school.  The day is tailored to your child's individual needs,  focusing on specific countries your child intends to visit and includes essential personal safety information that will prepare them for overseas travel.
I also offer personal safety awareness training to students before they attend university; the focus is more on personal safety than travel safety but can be adjusted according to individual needs.
I can accommodate larger school groups interested in either travel safety or personal safety and also provide Emergency First Aid At Work training as a separate day.
Please contact me to discuss your needs.

After school I backpacked around the world for 6 years before spending the next 32 years in Law enforcement and later as a Security Advisor with the National Crime Agency providing security and travel advice to our officers.

In 2019 I was posted to Kenya where I spent 4 years mentoring the Kenyan Police and travelled extensively through Africa.

I have 3 children who have all travelled safely to a number of developing countries.

- Simon Faulkner

Simon recently held a day on gap year safety for my son and his friends before they set off travelling. The day was well-organised and very well-informed and useful. Simon was very approachable and knowledgeable and really good at talking to that age group. He did an excellent job of heightening their general awareness of risk and danger whilst travelling and also giving useful and practical tips. He gave them exercises to do in groups to keep them engaged, and they all found it very useful and informative. I would very much recommend him to any anxious parents waving off their 18 year olds!"
Kate Robinson, December 2025

Our 18-year-old son and two friends were heading to Africa for six months and to help them prepare Simon spent a day with them, providing helpful advice on how to stay safe and manage difficult situations and generally made them a little wiser and more wary in advance of their travels. Simon also had great personal experience of many of the countries they will visit and was able to tailor his session accordingly.

I think the course has really given my daughter the confidence to not panic when things don’t go smoothly and has helped her problem-solve with more confidence.
Mrs. Deemer, July 2025

Simon delivered a stimulating, engaging talk to our 6th formers. He drew on real-life experiences which added depth to his guidance. The practical advice offered was constructive and enhanced their alertness and sense of personal responsibility, whilst also ensuring that they felt empowered to step forth in their own ventures. We would recommend him most warmly.
